Sadly, speculation claims that viewers may be losing yet another important Salemite in Brandon Barash, who plays the role of Stefan DiMera.
Is Brandon Barash leaving Days of Our Lives as Stefan DiMera?
Recently, Brandon Barash has been in the center of storylines revolving around his character Stefan DiMera and Stefan’s wife Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus). However, he’s now been knocked down to recurring status, meaning he may be on the way out of Salem. Fans can’t help but wonder if Barash is set for a “Days of Our Lives” exit and a possible return to his old stomping grounds at “General Hospital.”
Before coming to “DOOL,” Barash portrayed the character Johnny Zaccharia on “General Hospital.” If he’s set to exit Salem, there’s a chance that he may be returning to reprise the role in Port Charles. Of course, he could pull double duty like Wally Kurth does on “The Young and The Restless.”
Rumors about Barash’s exit have been circulating for months, and fans aren’t happy about it. “I love him as Stefan O DiMera. Please be wrong. He & Gabi are great together,” one person tweeted. “They should strongly consider keeping him around permanently. He’s a fantastic actor,” another wrote.

Brandon Barash first came to “Days of Our Lives” as Stefan DiMera when actor Tyler Christopher left the role. Christopher, another “General Hospital” alum, originated the role. Stefan was revealed to be the secret son of Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) and Viviane Alamain (Louise Sorel). Stefan found himself getting tangled up in the DiMera drama and coming between Chad and Abigail’s relationship before falling for Gabi.

Later, Stefan was killed when he took a bullet for Vivian. His heart was donated to save Julie Williams’ (Susan Seaforth Hayes). Later, Stefan’s identical twin brother, Jake Lambert, with Barash in the role. When Jake was ultimately killed, his heart was given to Stefan’s body, which Dr. Rolf had been keeping alive artificially.
This gave “Days of Our Lives” the perfect excuse to bring Stefan back to Salem. He reunited with Gabi and has been causing chaos ever since. However, with the news that Camila Banus is leaving the role of Gabi after 13 years, the character of Stefan is up in the air. Fans don’t want to see him go. However, anything is possible in Salem.
