Days of Our Lives recasts Eric Brady and some fans may be confused. That’s right, this week Greg Vaughan who has been playing the legacy character for the better part of a decade was replaced by actor Jason Gerhardt. The recast is only temporary as Gerhardt stepped into the role at a time when Vaughan was unable to fulfill his duties. Thankfully, Vaughan will be back in action soon. However, if Salem’s new Eric Brady looks familiar to you, that’s probably because you’ve seen him on another soap opera.
“Unfortunately, I tested Positive for Covid & TPTD had to keep moving forward & thanks to our incredible #marniesaitta casting; my old friend / Castmate Jason Gerhart stepped in that week for 4/5 shows,” Vaughan tweeted of his absence from the soap opera. Those scene were filmed in February, but because Days of Our Lives films about six months in advance, fans are only know seeing the Eric Brady recast. The recast comes as the character of Eric is simply too central to the storyline to be away from Salem.
Currently, Eric and Sloan are planning a wedding and family expansion. However, what he doesn’t know is that his fiance actually doctored DNA test results to make everyone believe Nicole Walker’s unborn baby belongs to EJ DiMera. Sadly, a new DiMera baby isn’t on the way as Eric has been revealed to be the father of Nicole’s child. Now it’s only a matter of time before the rest of Salem learns the shocking truth.
Days of Our Lives recasts Eric Brady with Jason Gerhardt
Many fans may recognize Jason Gerhardt as Cooper Barrett on General Hospital. The actor played the role in the late 2000’s and has also gone on to land parts in television shows such as Chicago Med, CSI, Mistresses, NCIS, as well as other projects.
For those who don’t know, Gerhardt is a family man, and his Instagram feed is full of photos of his wife and children, as well as other special people in his life. The actor graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a much different career goal in mind, earning a degree in accounting, per Soaps. During his time at college, he discovered a love for music and even became the frontman of a band.
What to know about Gerhardt’s early career
After leaving college, Gerhardt started his corporate career, but couldn’t forget his love for performing. Eventually, he made the decision to try his luck in the entertainment business and began modeling and acting. The Days of Our Lives fill-in and his wife took he plunge and moved to Los Angeles where he was later hired for his role on General Hospital, kicking off his soap opera career.
Jason Gerhardt is a wonderful soap actor and fans are excited to see the way he handles the role as Days of Our Lives recasts Eric Brady for a brief stint. Perhaps this could even open the door to another soap opera opportunity for the actor.
