TVLine reports that the show’s producers have cleared the contract, essentially firing every single actor on the soap, as they ready for their long hiatus at the end of the month.

The break in production as previously revealed as a way for the soap opera to eventually get their filming schedule closer to what fans are seeing in real time on television. This way the writers could gage fan reaction and be able to adjust the storylines accordingly.
However, with the news of the massive contract overhaul, DOOL fans are more worried than ever that the soap opera could be cancelled in the near future.
Sources tell the outlet that NBC seemingly wants to keep the soap on the air, and that the decision to release the actors from their contracts came straight from Corday Productions and not Sony.
Will DOOL be renewed?
If the soap does get renewed the show would begin filming again in March. However, they would have to try to rehire the cast members, who could be off doing other projects by then. In addition, they would likely try to rehire the actors for less money, which likely wouldn’t sit well with any of them, especially the more popular characters and the vets who have been on the soap for decades.
