“Days of Our Lives” casting has been all over the place over the past year. Fans have been forced to say goodbye to several cast members as their characters were written off the canvas. Characters exits like Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus) have left fans devastated. Now, viewers are worried that the same thing may be happening to one of the show’s most iconic characters, Kate Roberts DiMera Brady, as Lauren Koslow is revealed to no longer be on contract.
Is Lauren Koslow leaving Days of Our Lives?
The latest “Days of Our Lives” reports confirm that Lauren Koslow has been taken off contract at the Peacock soap opera. This is a bit concerning, as Koslow has been on contract since the 90s. She’s not been dropped down to a recurring role on the sudser.
While this practice isn’t uncommon on soaps, fans are worried that they’ll be seeing less of Kate in Salem. Because of Koslow’s recurring role, it seems likely that Kate won’t be around as much. However, that doesn’t mean she’s leaving Salem. Instead, the show could be making room for other actors to have the spotlight as their characters engage in big storylines.
Kate’s reduced airtime will be a blow to fans who love the character. However, she’ll still be in Salem to lend her friends and children an ear. Although, reduced roles have led actors to exit the soap in the past.
Recent DOOL departures have devastated fans
Most recently, actress Martha Madison announced her departure from “Days of Our Lives.” In an interview, Madison, who played Belle Black Brady, revealed that her lack of character development led to her decision to leave. The actress admitted that Belle should have had a bigger presence in Salem. As a legacy character born to iconic couple John and Marlena, Madison had thoughts on her reduced screen time.
In addition to Madison’s exit, her on-screen husband Brandon Beemer (Shawn Brady) has also left the soap. Meanwhile, the show has recently written off other characters. Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin), Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier), Talia Hunter (Aketra Sevillain) and Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) have all recently departed.
Current characters in Salem’s spotlight
For now, it seems that “DOOL” is focused on characters like Xander Cook (Paul Telfer), Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey). Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan), and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) have also been getting lots of screen time. Of course, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf), Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson), Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash), and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) are also front and center in the drama.
However, “Days of Our Lives” fans also want to see the long-running. Older characters such as John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) are huge favorites. With Lauren Koslow’s bump down, viewers are sure to miss Kate’s sassy zingers and dramatic flair in Salem. Of course, her contract status could change again at anytime, so viewers shouldn’t lose hope.
