Days of Our Lives production has officially been shut down for two weeks due to a member of the production team testing positive for Covid-19. The soap opera will now be on hiatus yet again following the quarantine.

The members of the cast and crew were notified about the shut down via an email from Corday Productions. They were told that someone on set had tested positive and that they were going to be taking a two week break before resuming filming.

Contact tracing is said to have been completed, and the individual will be isolated for a period of two weeks. Those who were in close contact with that person will also be going into quarantine for those 14 days.

The shut down was taken as a precaution. It also gives time for the set to be completely cleaned and sanitized while the show is on their hiatus.

However, the soap won’t be missing any air time. The series is filmed in advance and has episodes to air while the cast and crew are away from set.

‘DOOL’ has been renewed for Season 56

Back in January, DOOL was renewed by NBC for a record breaking 56th season. Just weeks before production shut down, along with many parts of the country for quarantine due to the coronavirus.

Days of Our Lives is set in the fictional town of Salem. The show revolves around the core families of The Bradys, Hortons, DiMeras, and Kiriakis’. Every character has some tie to a member of one of those families.

Over the years, the show has had a number of wild storylines, which have included a demonic possession, multiple characters coming back from the dead, one woman being buried alive, brainwashing, face swapping, and most recently classic villain Stefano DiMera’s consciousness being implanted into longtime fan favorite character, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols).

Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the DOOL hiatus, wishing the cast and crew safety.

Fans react to the hiatus news

“I pray that all the actor and actresses are okay. Sending prayers to the production team member,” one fans tweeted.

“This is going to keep happening on almost every production being shot now,” another commented.

“Looks like Hollywood needs to get in the NBA bubble,” a third person wrote.

“Was afraid this would happen,” a fourth social media user stated.

Currently, Days of Our Lives can be seen every weekday afternoon on NBC. Check your local listings for exact times.
