“Days of Our Lives” fans are getting another fan favorite character back. TV Insider confirms that actor Matthew Ashford will be returning to Salem as Jack Deveraux for a brand new story line this Spring.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Comings and Goings: Matthew Ashford Returning As Jack Deveraux

According to the report, the details about Jack’s reappearance are few and far between. Jack will return to “Days of Our Lives,” but only for a 5-episode arc. This means that he and wife Jennifer Horton aren’t likely to rekindle their romance.

So, is Jack still dead? Will we be seeing some sort of video footage of him, or possibly a “flashback” of he and Jennifer with their children? If Jack is still alive, then why would he only return for 5 episodes? It doesn’t seem likely he’s still alive and kicking, but in Salem anything is possible, even a ghost version of a character as “Days of Our Lives” fans are currently seeing with Bo and Hope.

Jack Deveraux’s Return To Salem

Matthew Ashford was last seen as Jack Deveraux in 2012 when he sacrificed his life to save his daughter, Abigail, played by Kate Mansi, and then died after his elevator fell down the shaft and crashed down, plummeting Jack to his death, or so we thought.

Is this just a way to include Jack in “Days of Our Lives” big 50th anniversary or will there be an actual good, solid reason for Jack to return. Perhaps one of his children will stumble upon something that will help guide them in their messy lives, or Jennifer will use Jack’s memory to help her make a big life decision.

It will be interesting to see what Jack Deveraux’s return to Salem will entail and how fans will react to his brief stint on “DOOL.”
