“Days of Our Lives” is all about shocking fans. The Peacock soap opera has seemingly made it their mission to leave fans confused and stunned by storylines, big returns, recasts, and more. Over the years, viewers have seen a number of wild plots, and there’s a chance that another big twist is coming.
Days of Our Lives ready to resurrect another iconic legacy character?
“Days of Our Lives” is no stranger to bringing characters back from the dead. In fact, most of Salem has been presumed dead at least once during their lives. However, the death of Abigail Deveraux DiMera really hit hard with a lot of viewers. Abby and her husband Chad DiMera were one of the most beloved super couples on the soap opera. When Chad found Abby stabbed to death in their bedroom, it was one of the most heartbreaking scenes on the sudser. Although Chad has no moved on with Stephanie Johnson, his love for Abigail is still very clearly front and center in his mind. Speculation is running wild that Abby may be back just in time to ruin Chad and Stephanie’s wedding.
That’s why many fans believe that “DOOL” is gearing up for a big return to Salem. Clyde Weston is back in the mix, as well as Abby’s brother Lucas Horton. Meanwhile, Chad has been seen looking depressed and pulling away from Stephanie as he continues to mourn the loss of his wife. So, why not bring her back with a shocking twisty storyline? “I’m already bored with Clyde doing the same old thing. What would surprise me is, well maybe not so much as a surprise is if he really didn’t kill Abigail and she’s still alive. Now that I wouldn’t mind watching,” one fan stated.
Abigail may return to Salem, but there’s a big twist
If “Days of Our Lives” does bring Abby back, there are a number of twists and turns they could use to explain her return. The first is that she was resserected by Dr. Rolf like so many other Salmeites before her. However, that storyline is definitely played out. Of course, “DOOL” could pull the doppelganger/imposter storyline. This would consist of the real Abigail being swapped out for a lookalike before her death while the she was held prisoner. The opposite could also be true. The person who returns could be an Abby look alike and not the real Abigail at all.
Abigail could come back with amnesia and no memory of why she’s alive or what happened to her. Soap Dirt even previously speculated that Abby’s death may have been faked by Chad’s sister Kristen DiMera. Kristen could have done this in order to get him out of her way at the company. Kristen has faked other deaths in the past and held them hostage on a remote island. (She’s so much like her father Stefano!). So, this really wouldn’t be a huge stretch for the character.
If Abigail does return to “Days of Our Lives” in the near future, fans will be happy to see her. Many viewers disliked the fact that the legacy character was brutally murdered. Of course, the big question would be, who will play a newly resurrected Abigail?
