“Days of Our Lives” spoilers reveal that fans will see a surprising recast in the near future. As previously reported by Hollywood News Daily, Jen Lilley is returning to the soap opera as Theresa Donovan. However, the character will be sticking around a lot longer than Lilley does. That’s right, Theresa will be back in action in Salem, as Lilley has been recast for an upcoming arc.
Jen Lilley announced her return to daytime TV when she revealed she was coming back to “DOOL” as Theresa to put in an appearance at Victor Kiriakis‘ funeral. Fans last saw Theresa when she moved to California to live with her parents. She took her son, Tate, whom she shares with Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) along with her. Now, she’s back, but not for long. Lilley tells Soaps.com that she agreed to return and that Theresa’s funeral stint eventually turned into a 12-week character arc.

Lilley says she was happy to return to “Days of Our Lives” but was puzzled when she didn’t get scripts for the long arc. “Listen, you told me Theresa’s going to do X, Y and Z, and I haven’t gotten the scripts. I only have one more for Monday, and I have two weeks left [on set],” Lilley says she told now-fired producer Albert Allarr. That’s when she learned that her character had been recast. “Oh no, Theresa is still going to do all of that… We’re going to do it with a different Theresa,” Allar reportedly responded.
Of course, recasts are something that soap opera fans have become accustomed to. Many characters have seen different actors in the role. On “DOOL” alone characters like Brady Black, Chad DiMera, Jack Deveraux, Jennifer Horton, Bo Brady, Billie Reed, Roman Brady, and many others have all been recast throughout the years.

As many fans know, Theresa’s return to “Days of Our Lives” is going to have a huge impact on Brady. It seems that fans will see Lilley play out those scenes for a bit. Although she’s been recast, the actress says she loved returning to the sudser. “I was still super grateful to go back for the two weeks and one day. I am happy that the story of Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Theresa can continue on,” she revealed.
