With the DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes still in full swing, can the Cleveland Browns make it happen? Cleveland has done a lot this offseason to revamp both ends of the ball. Mainly working to fix their defense, a possible signing of DeAndre Hopkins could top off a great offseason. With a full season of Deshaun Watson the Cleveland Browns look scary on paper.
Will The Brown Make A Play On Hopkins?
According to BrownsNation.com, There is a mutual interest between CLE and Hopkins. The problem as of now is the financial aspect as said by Tom Withers via Twitter. Cleveland would be the most logical fit for DeAndre Hopkins. He knows the quarterback, they played terrific together, and he would be alongside Amari Cooper.
Judging by his current market, it doesn’t seem likely that Hopkins will get the $20 million he would have gotten from the Cardinals. Some other teams that have been interested in Hopkins are the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills. Even though the Browns might not be able to give Hopkins the most money they might be the best chance to bring out his full talent.
Deshaun Watson knows how Hopkins thinks. He would be able to make the most out of him. Their chemistry is something that must be considered. Their friendship might end up being the deciding factor in DeAndre Hopkins’ decision. Cleveland could be a place where Hopkins can show that he is still a top-level talent at WR. Pairing Hopkins with Cooper would be a deadly one-two punch for The Browns as the defense would have to pick their poison.
Hopkins to CLE Seems More Likely Every Day
Deshaun Watson showed flashes of his former greatness in his first six games back from suspension. If Watsons can get back to that level the rest of the league is in big trouble. With Myles Garrett leading the Cleveland defense they have the opportunity to be the most well-rounded team in the NFL. Now add DeAndre Hopkins to the mix and that could be a wrap for the league. Will the Browns make a legitimate play on Hopkins? Or are these all just off-season rumors? It will be very interesting to see what happens in the near future.
Hopkins will more than likely make his decision soon as to have plenty of time to work with his new team. Could this finally be Clevelands’ year? Or is this just more of the same old Browns? With Football approaching faster than you think we will get that answer!
