Derek Hough Asked Julianne’s Ex-Husband To Play A Special Part In His Wedding

Derek Hough and Haley Erbert are officially married. The “Dancing With The Stars” judge and his longtime love tied the knot with their closest friends and family members over the weekend. For Derek, his also meant his former brother-in-law, Brooks Laich. Brooks is the ex-husband of Derek’s sister, Julianne Hough. Although the pair have since divorced, Brooks and Derek have remained close. The former pro dancer even asked Brooks to be in the wedding party.

Julianne and Brooks’ reunion at Derek and Haley’s wedding comes three years after the couple’s 2020 split. However, the divorce didn’t ruin Derek and Brooks’ friendship. “They were figuring out themselves as individuals and that they weren’t a match as a couple, but that doesn’t take away their love for Brooks as a person,” Derek said following his sister’s divorce. Meanwhile, the former hockey star has moved on from the marriage. He’s now engaged to fellow athlete Katrin Tanja Daviosdottir.

For her part, Julianne appears to be enjoying her single status. However, her career is moving forward. The former professional dancer has not only worked as an actress and singer, but she’s also sat at the “Dancing With The Stars” judge’s table. Of course, Julianne will be back in the ballroom alongside her brother Derek this year for Season 32 of the hit dancing series. This time around, Julianne joins Alfonso Riberio as a co-host of the show. The news was revealed after it was announced that Tyra Banks wouldn’t be returning to host the series.

Julianne talks about returning to Dancing With The Stars

“The door has always been open for me to join or come back in any capacity because ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is my family. It’s where I feel the most myself and the most at home. The door was never, ever closed. We’ve always talked about coming back and in some sort of capacity,” Hough tells Variety. “When the idea of coming back to host came around, it was truly a full circle moment. I’ve now been a part of the show in every role — being a professional dancer to judge to now hosting,” she continued, adding that she has a “unique perspective” for being able to relate to the pros and celebrities on the series.

“The friendships that are made here are lifelong. It feels like it’s just gonna be like a peek into our friendship and our lives. With this season specifically, we are all so close. We’ve been friends for over 10 years. It’s like the ‘Friends’ cast. We’re going to be friends for the rest of our lives,” Julianne Hough added of her “DWTS” family.
