‘Dexter’ Is Returning To Showtime As A Limited Series

Michael C. Hall will reprise his role as Dexter Morgan.

Everyone’s favorite serial killer is returning to TV. Dexter will come back as a limited series on its former home Showtime. Actor Michael C. Hall will reprise the role of the murderous Dexter Morgan for the 10-episode run.

‘Dexter’ is returning to showtime for a limited series revival

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dexter hasn’t been on the air for eight years, but fans haven’t forgotten about him. The show was one of the darkest and most twisted stories on television, and viewers couldn’t get enough. (If you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely binge-worthy.)

In addition to Hall, the original showrunner, Clyde Phillips will also be back on board for the revival. The series ran for eight seasons on the network before ending it’s run back in 2013.

The series finale was controversial among fans

The series finale proved to be a controversial one. Dexter had sent his son, Harrison, to live with his girlfriend, who also happened to be a serial killer. He then faked his own death in order to live a solitary life as a lumberjack without any friends or family to complicate his life.

Many fans didn’t like the finale, and weren’t afraid to speak out about their disappointment with how the show ended. However, with the revival, the finale is no longer the finale, and the end can be amended.

The network is ready for Dexter’s return

“Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago,” Showtime Entertainment president Gary Levine said

. “We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world,” he added.

Fans speak out on the show’s return

Of course, fans have a lot of opinions about the show coming back to the airwaves.

I’ve always been tempted to watch dexter but haven’t since I know it’s supposed to have the worst ending of all time lol think I’ll watch it now in case they’re making up for it lol,” one person tweeted.

My favorite serial killer is coming back, please please make the season worth bringing the show back. #excited,” another wrote.

Anyone else watch Dexter? Can you believe they are bringing it back? I’m not sure how I feel about this at all, especially how awful the ending was. If only they could bring John Lithgow back,” a third person stated.

The Dexter revival is set to begin filming in 2021, so stay tuned for any and all news and updates.
