With The Cleveland Browns Taking on Baker Mayfield and The Carolina Panthers in week one on Sunday tensions are high on both sides. From Baker Saying he was going to “F***k the Browns up” to Nick Chubb apparently taking his own shots at the former Browns Quarterback.
It is unclear if the two were engaging in friendly trash talk before Mayfield’s reunion with the Browns or if there is some actual bad blood brewing a few days before they face off.
During an interview on Wednesday Nick Chubb was asked what he expects from Baker Mayfield in week one and he responded by saying “We all know Baker, so I don”t know what to expect” according to Tom Withers via Twitter. Baker then replied by saying it would be nice to hear Chubb actually say some words when they meet again. Nick Chubb is known to be a man of very few words so that statement could be taken as a joke between “friends” or was Baker trying to return fire?
Bad Blood between former teammates?
Mayfield’s statement with the vulgar language was not even a full week after Cleveland Browns super-star Myles Garrett stated that there is no beef between the Browns and the Panthers or between him and baker.
After Baker’s statement was made public the Quarterback denied it but the reporter that Baker said it to assured the media that it really happened. Myles Garrett on the other hand was very professional about the news saying that the team would take those words and use them to play better.
Nobody blames Baker Mayfield for being upset about how his time in Cleveland ended, the Browns could have handled the situation a little better but Baker is not innocent either. Many from the Cleveland Browns’ organization including some players stated that Baker acted like an immature child and that cost them some games.
Is the hype real?
With the matchup, everyone is waiting for it to happen in just a few days. Tensions are running at an all-time high and it feels like the slightest statement could be enough for either side to boil over. It will be very interesting to see how Myles Garrett really feels about Baker Mayfield if he is able to get to him for a sack.
Will Garrett help him up after? Or will he be too busy celebrating and trash-talking? This game will be very emotional for both teams and it has been a headline since Baker was traded to the panthers. It will be interesting to see how well Baker will do but for now, we will just have to wait and see what happens.
