But there is one thing that the “Puppy Love” hitmaker says he has never done. According to Donny Osmond via People, he stands firm by saying that he has never once uttered a curse word in his entire life.

He credits his swear-free lifestyle to his father. Donny says he’s never sworn because he never once heard his father swear. He describes his father, George Osmond, as a tough man. ‘He was tough, but he never swore. Obviously, I still think the words! There are certain people I would love to say certain words to at certain times, but I just think, “Be like your dad.”‘

Donny Osmond’s parents, George and Olive, sadly passed away. However, Donny says there is no day that goes by that he doesn’t think about his parents and the lessons they instilled in him.

Donny Osmond’s Career Stands the Test of Time

Donny’s older brothers Wayne Osmond, Alan Osmond, Merrill Osmond, and Jay Osmond were discovered by Walt Disney. The Osmond Brothers performed at Disneyland and were soon asked to perform on The Andy Williams Show (1962). They performed on the show for nine years, with Donny joining the show at age six. He later branched out to become a solo teen idol during the 1970s.

Donny launched his solo career with the top ten hit “Sweet and Innocent” and the even more successful “Go Away Little Girl,” a remake of a song that had already been a hit twice–once for Steve Lawrence and once for the Happenings. For the remainder of the early 1970s, Donny divided his musical efforts, continuing to record with his brothers and making several solo albums, including To You With Love, Too Young, and Alone Together. He scored chart hits with the singles “Puppy Love”–a remake of the old Paul Anka song, “Why,” and “Too Young.”

2023’s Version of Donny Osmond

When Donny Osmond looks back over his long career in the spotlight, he says that he still feels grateful for everything that he’s managed to achieve during his pop career.

He said: ‘I always remember one show where my brothers and I ran out onstage, and there were two people in the audience. So every time I see a packed house, I have an attitude of gratitude.’ When asked how he feels about teen pop idols these days, he says he can sympathize with today’s teenage stars.

Donny Osmond acknowledges that social media has made things even more difficult for teen pop stars. “It’s probably worse now than it used to be, especially with social media. But I think what happens is that you become a puppet to your image,” states Osmond.

He says the biggest lesson he has learned in life is,” I’ve learned how to balance my life. I’ve been a workaholic, but I scheduled nothing so I could take my wife, my children, and our 14 grandkids all on a boating trip. I am Grandpa this weekend.”

Fans of Donny Osmond who would like to see the singer perform are in luck. Osmond is now performing a solo residency at Harrah’s Las Vegas through May 2024.
