A few weeks ago the Cleveland Cavaliers made a massive trade and it could be the most significant move of this offseason.  The Cleveland Cavaliers sent Lauri Markanen, Collin Sexton, 3 first-round picks, and 2 pick swaps to the Utah Jaxx for their 3-time all-star Donovan Mitchell.

Mitchell had his press day on Wednesday and was introduced to the media as a Cavalier for the first time. Mitchell was shown a lot of love as fans crowded the bus he arrived on with signs and cheers. During his interview, Mitchell stated that there is no reason that the Cavaliers can not contend and that he is ready to get to work in The Land.

Cleveland’s time to compete

“There’s no reason. We have to go out there and do the work,” Mitchell said. “On paper, we look scary. But at the end of the day, it comes down to what we do in the gym. We had a good run today and we’ve got to continue to have good work, so I can’t sit here and tell you, ‘Yes, we’re a championship team.’ We have to go out there and prove it every night. I know we’re going to have good months and good weeks and good days and we’re going to have bad weeks and bad days. But for us, if we continue to put the work night in and night out and continue to put that effort in with the right plays we might do something.” according to Fear The Sword.com.

There are many questions surrounding this young Cavaliers team. Such as, do they have enough experience to make a deep playoff push? How will Mitchell and Garland fit together? How will Evan Mobley show improvement this coming season? With this being Mitchell’s first year in Cleveland it might take a while for the chemistry to be fully formed between him and his new teammates.

Can The Cavs stay healthy through the season?

If the Cavaliers can stay healthy and continue to work as hard as they have been working, the sky’s the limit for this young team. Last year injuries plagued the Cavaliers and with so many key players out they dropped to the 8th seed in the Eastern  Conference.

Now the Cavaliers are back and better than ever with Donovan Mitchell there to help lead the team to a deep playoff push and maybe even an NBA Championship. Mitchell brings the scoring and the experience this Cavaliers team needed to be able to compete now and make some noise in the coming seasons.
