Donovan Mitchell Big Game Spoils Luka Magic As The Cavs Take Down Mavs

Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers during an interview.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been on and off so far in the month of December. Cleveland has a very rocky record while on the road but that did not stop Donovan Mitchell and the rest of the Cavs from showing up in Dallas last night. The 18-11 Cavaliers took on the 14-14 Mavericks in Dallas as Donovan Mitchell went off for 34 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds. Mitchell was able to step up due to the fact that the Cavalier’s defense was able to keep MVP frontrunner, Luka Doncic in check throughout the entire game, per Cleveland.com

Mitchell had a big 27 points in the first half of play which had the Cavaliers up 12 points going into halftime. With the Cavalier’s defense working at maximum efficiency The Mavs just could not get anything going even after outshooting the Cavaliers in the third quarter and scoring the same amount at 22 points in the fourth. Adding a great performance by Cavaliers’ forward Lamar Stevens with 18 points, 2 assists, and 11 rebounds the Cavaliers were able to run away with the win with a final score of 105-90.

Donovan Mitchell Fits Great In Cleveland

With Mitchell and the Cavs spoiling some Luka Magic they are still in that long footrace that is the top three Eastern Conference teams. The Boston Celtics sit on top of the East with a record of 22-7 next are the Milwaukee Bucks who are 20-7 with the Cleveland Cavaliers coming in third place with a record of 18–11.

The season is still pretty young and the Cavaliers find themselves in a great spot as both the Celtics and the Bucks are within Cleveland’s striking distance with a big winning streak like they had earlier in the season, they could take first place in the Eastern Conference with some help from other teams beating the Celtics and Bucks.

Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers have high expectations

The Cleveland Cavaliers are still a very young team with some great leadership from the veteran players and the coaching staff. If The Cavaliers can really figure it out they could very well be a big problem for any team in a seven-game series. The Cavs still have time to find out who they are going to be in the NBA as we are not even close to the all-star break yet. The Cleveland Cavaliers are a good team and can make it far in the playoffs if they can figure out who they really are and play that way night in and night out.
