Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers are set to face off against the defending NBA Champion Boston Celtics on Friday night. However, despite the Cavs’ previous losing ways when it comes to Boston, this time may just be different. While the Celtics are still considered the team to beat in the Eastern Conference, Cleveland is no joke. Now these teams will get to lay it all on the line once again as two of the best teams in the NBA do battle on ESPN

According to ClutchPoints, the Cleveland Cavaliers are coming off a dominant win over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night. However, the Celtics are coming off an embarrassing blow-out loss to the Detroit Pistons. Both teams will be on a two-night rest from action. Although both teams are not completely healthy. Donovan Mitchell’s Cavs are in great health at the moment, but the Celtics are without Jrue Holiday, and maybe some other key players.

Donovan Mitchell’s Cleveland Cavaliers Might Finally Be Ready

The Celtics have been a thorn in the side of the Cavaliers for years now. Especially since Mitchell arrived in The Land. However, let’s not let that take away from how fantastic Cleveland has been so far this season. Since doubling down on the “core-four” and adding De’Andre Hunter, the Cavs are scary. However, they are still unproven in the postseason. New Head Coach, Kenny Atkinson stated that the team is “Focused for these playoffs.”

“In our locker room, amongst us, no one is talking about our record,” Atkinson said. “Focused on trying to prepare for these playoffs. Championship mentality.”

That kind of mentality is exactly why this game against the Boston Celtics means more than just any old regular season game. Granted the Cavs will not get a healthy Boston team this time around, a message still needs to be sent. If Donovan Mitchell and his Cleveland Cavaliers are serious about bringing another trophy home for the city of Cleveland, it all starts tonight. Cleveland must show that they can run with the teams who have been to the top and back.

Donovan Mitchell will need to be at his best tonight against the Boston Celtics. Luckily for Cleveland, they are getting their starting point guard, Darius Garland, back from a hip contusion. Can the Cleveland Cavaliers finally give Boston a taste of their own medicine? Or will they fail to rise to the occasion yet again?
