Draymond Green was arrested in Michigan over the weekend. The Golden State Warriors fan favorite player was reportedly busted after fighting with a heckler in a bar, TMZ reports.
Golden State Warriors Star Draymond Green Arrested For Assault
According to reports, Draymond Green was getting heckeled by a man much shorter than he is outside of a bar in Michigan over the weekend. Green, who has made headlines for his rough plays on the court, even getting suspended during the NBA Finals for hitting LeBron James in the groin, couldn’t take the man’s repeated comments and hit the guy, according to witnesses.
Draymond allegedly slapped the man after he lost his temper at the fan’s heckling. However, a police officer was nearby and reportedly saw the whole thing. Cops arrested Green and video of him walking the NBA star to their patrol car has hit the internet.
Will Draymond Green Be Kicked Off Team USA Basketball Squad?
The heckler was apparently a Michigan State student-athlete, which is strange since Draymond Green is a beloved MSU basketball alumni. However, the Golden State Warriors star was booked for misdemeanor assault, even though the victim reprotedly had no visible injuries. Draymond posted the $200 bail and will reprotedly be back in court on July 20 for arraignment, which conflicts with Team USA’s basketball camp in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, USA Basketball is currently reviewing the situation, which could lead to Draymond Green being dropped from the Olympic team if the organization sees fit. “USA Basketball is aware of this news,” the organization said in a statement Monday. “At this point, we are collecting all related information and will have no further comment until we have a better understanding of the situation.”
