According to Yahoo! Sports, Dwyane Wade has agreed to a 2-year deal earning him $47.5 million with the Chicago Bulls. Wade was reportedly upset with the Miami Heat for only offering him a 2-year deal worth $40 million, when he clearly wanted $50 million.
It will surprise a lot of fans to know that Dwyane Wade has never been the highest paid player on the Miami Heat, even though he is clearly the organizations most valuable player, giving the team all 13 years of of professional career and helping to bring 3 championships to the organization.
It appears that DWade’s bridges were burnt with the Heat when they seemingly refused to pay their superstar more. Talks of Wade heading to the Cleveland Cavaliers to reunite with his close friend and former teammate, LeBron James raged, but ultimately, the Cavs didn’t have enough money to offer Wade.

However, the Cleveland Cavaliers were involved in the move to get Dwyane Wade to the Chicago Bulls, the team located in his hometown. To clear salary cap room for Wade, the Bulls traded guard Jose Calderon to the Los Angeles Lakers and forward Mike Dunleavy to the Cleveland Cavaliers, per sources.
The big three in Chicago will now be Dwyane Wade, Rajon Rondo, and Jimmy Butler. This makes the Bulls much better, and it should be interesting to see what the Heat do in the wake of Wade’s exit from the team.
“This was not an easy decision, but I feel I have made the right choice,” Wade said in a letter released to the Associated Press. “Watching the Bulls growing up inspired me at an early age to pursue my dream of becoming a basketball player,” Wade said in his letter. “My most treasured memories were watching my dad play basketball on the courts of Fermi Elementary School and developing my game at the Blue Island Recreation Center. I have never forgotten where I came from and I am thankful to have an opportunity to play for the team that first fueled my love of the game.”
