Elvis Presley’s legacy remains a popular topic of interest for Elvis Presley fans across the globe. Even though the King of Rock and Roll has been gone for more than four decades, fans can not get enough news on the Presley family. Over the past few years, there has been an increasing amount of interest in the Presley estate since Elvis’ death according to The Things.com.
Most of the recent news pertaining to Elvis Presley estate and will has had to do with news surrounding Presley’s only known child Lisa Marie Presley. At the time of Elvis’ death on August 16, 1977, Lisa Marie Presley was just nine-years-old. Lisa Marie was an only child and therefore received the vast majority of the Presley estate.
Elvis Presley made sure Lisa Marie had everything she wanted
However, at only nine, Lisa Marie was far from being able to oversee the huge fortune that was a bequest to her. Therefore it was Priscilla Presley who oversaw the Presley estate operations and finances until Lisa Marie turned age 25 in 1993. There was nothing that Elvis did not do to make sure his little girl was happy and well taken care of. In fact, Elvis quite spoiled his only child according to reports. Nothing was too good, or out of reach for Lisa Marie.
Growing up as the King’s daughter Lisa Marie was treated like a princess. She had everything her heart desired which included ponies, pets, toys, access to her every whim. In fact, Lisa Marie reportedly expressed to her father her desire to see snow for the first time. Within in hours, Elvis ordered his private jet to fly Lisa off to Idaho allowing her to play in the snow for 20-minutes, before flying her back to her Graceland mansion home.
Priscilla Presley’s business sense saved Elvis Presley estate
With Elvis’ reckless spending and the desire to do as he pleased when he pleased his great fortune began to disappear. What was once estimated to be a $100 million dollar fortune quickly depleted to around $5 million at the time of his death. Following the death of Elvis’ father Vernon Presley in 1979 Priscilla took on the job of managing the estate. With her strong business sense and hard work, Priscilla quickly turned the estate around.
Priscilla formed Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE), keeping Elvis’ name and image huge money-making organization. Priscilla has turned Graceland into one of the biggest tourist attractions and event centers in Tennessee. This increased Lisa Marie Presley’s inheritance in 1993 from a few million to muti-millions.
Sadly, Lisa Marie inherited her father’s poor financial sense and trusted the wrong people to manage her money-losing millions of dollars to bad investments. Lisa’s financial devastation was recently outed when she began the divorce proceedings from her fourth husband Michael Lockwood. Lisa was forced to admit in court that she was broke, revealing that with the money she had reckless squandered away and lost at the hands of her business manager she had less than $14,000 to her name.
Lisa Marie Presley’s children very much resemble Grandpa Elvis Presley
As previously reported by Blasting News Priscilla Presley has remained diligent in working with Elvis Presley Enterprises to maintain the business ventures she worked so hard to create and keep afloat. Lisa Marie is set to return to court in late July for her final divorce and custody hearings and has remained fairly low-key in the public eye.
It is her hope to finalize the divorce and work out an agreeable custody settlement with Lockwood for their 11-year-old twin daughters Harper and Finley. Lisa Marie Presley is the mother of four. Her two adult children Riley and Benjamin Keough are from her first marriage to Danny Keough. As far as the Elvis Presley legacy goes, it is up to, obviously Priscilla, who keeps all business aspects thriving, and Lisa Marie, who has a thriving music career.
As for Elvis Presley’s grandchildren, sadly they never had the chance to meet their legendary grandfather. However, there is no doubt that Elvis would have been extremely proud of his grandchildren. Oldest granddaughter Riley Keough has a successful acting career. She has starred in hit films such as “The Runaways,” “Mad Max,” and “Magic Mike” to name just a small few.
Benjamin Keough, Elvis’s only grandson, and look-alike have also followed his Grandpa’s acting career and starred in a couple of his own films such as “Rod and Barry,” and “Elvis By The Presleys.” According to a past interview with Lisa Marie, she claims it is not known if Benjamin will branch out into music or not stating for now he is just “doing his own thing.” Last but never least twin granddaughters Harper and Finely, at only 11, they have a while before they start thinking about their potential careers. One thing is for certain the Elvis Presley genes are strong and not only does Lisa Marie Presley very much resemble her famous father, but his four grandchildren each have very distinctive Elvis Presley characteristics. Who knows, one-day fans may see each and everyone follow his footsteps keeping the Presley legacy alive and thriving.
