The 2021-2022 NBA rookie of the year race is currently in full swing and it could really go to any of three players who have been a true impact on the NBA and their teams, including Evan Mobley of the Cleveland Cavaliers per CBS Sports.

Starting with number three is the early race the Orlando Magic’s power/small forward Franz Wagner. Wagner had a very rocky preseason but he really came out and has been a reliable star for the magic as he is averaging 13 points per game while shooting a solid 46 percent from the field and 38 percent from behind the arc. Franz Wagner has been great for the Magic and he is the game-changer that they needed to really kickstart their offense and that is why he is number three on this list.

Moving on to number two on the list for rookie of the year we arrive at the Raptor’s versatile power-forward, Scottie Barns. Scottie Barns has had a great season so far and he also shined in the raptor’s preseason games. Barns is currently averaging 16 points per game and leads all the rookies in scoring. Passing and defensive effort has also been a very important part of Scottie’s game and that is the main reason he is sitting at number two for the Rookie Of The Year Award.

Evan Mobley has been big for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season

Now the moment we have all been waiting for as we move on to the number one spot and the current leader among rookies for the Rookie Of The Year Award. The number one spot goes to The Cleveland Cavaliers’ 7-foot center Evan Mobley. One week into November Evan Mobley deserves the number one spot right now as he is coming off his best game yet scoring 26 points, with 9 rebounds, and five assists against a very good Knicks team. Mobley has come from being in third place to first place in about a month due to his amazing play and his part in getting the Cavaliers to a record of 7-4 in the early season.

Evan Mobley is a very reliable and mobile center/ power-forward and has played amazing alongside Cleveland’s other big man Jarrett Allen. Mobley uses his length to just about average a double-double so far this year. His lack of weight also does not affect his ability to back down defenders and make moves under the rim. Evan Mobley is clearly the current leader for the Rookie Of The Yare Award and if he keeps playing like he has been playing he will not only win the award but he might even take his team to the NBA playoffs.
