Ewan McGregor knows Star Wars fans very well from the rough criticism he got from the prequel movies to the newfound love of the fans that grew up with those movies. One thing McGregor has always said is that Star Wars leaks are bad for the community.

His latest appearance in the franchise was in Disney Plus’ Obi-Wan Kenobi series where most fans loved and praised the show and are even asking for more of it.

With the almost 20-year gap between Star Wars: Episode 3 Revenge Of The Sith and the Kebobi show leaks and spoilers have become much more of a problem in this day and age. It is much easier for fans to get their hands on plot leaks than it was in the early 2000s.

McGregor had commended Disney and Lucasfilm for keeping as much as they could under wraps until the show was released but of course, some fans still got their hands on the plot of the show. According to Screen Rant.com Ewan describes the leaks as “looking at your Christmas presents the day before Christmas” and he also says it’s “A bit of a shame” as quoted below.

What does McGregor think?

“That’s the beautiful thing about how passionate Disney, Lucasfilm, all of us are, who are involved with it is from the beginning is we try really hard not to let anything out of the bag just to protect your experience of seeing it for the first time. I think it’s really cool that Disney and Lucasfilm care so much for the fan experience. They really want you to have a 100% experience the first time you see it, and if you’ve read that, and that leaked, and this came out, it’s just a bit of a shame isn’t it? It’s like looking at your Christmas presents before Christmas Day.”

It is not impossible to keep things under wraps as Disney did a great job keeping Luke Skywalker’s and Ashoka Tano’s cameos in both the Mandalorian and The Book Of Boba Fett a well-kept secret from the fans.

Leaks are just a part of life in today’s day and age

Ewan McGregor understands that fans will always be able to find a way to see what will happen in the shows or movies before they come out. He is just stating that he does not think it is good for the fan base as it could give fans an opinion of the show before they even watch the first episode.
