‘Fast & Furious’ Franchise Coming To An End With ‘Fast 11’

Fast & The Furious fans are being forced to say goodbye to the franchise. It was announced this week that the films will finally come to an end after the upcoming two films are made.

Universal Pictures have a plan to end the series after the two-part finale, including the films Fast 10 and Fast 11. The movies are more popular than ever with each installment furthering the storyline more and more.

‘The Fast & Furious’ Franchise Plans Epic End

Fast 9 has already been confirmed, and was supposed to premiere this year, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic it has since been delayed until 2021. The movie will see the return of fan favorite character, Han. It will also add a new character to mix as John Cena has been added to the cast to play the brother of Vin Diesel’s character, Dom.

Deadline reports that Justin Lin will return to direct the final films in the franchise. F10 was set for a 2021 start date, but has since been delayed due to Covid, meaning the F11 will hit theaters later than expected as well.

While the cast has yet to be announced for F10 and F11, it’s seems safe to say that the films’ core actors including, Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, and Tyrese Gibson will likely be back in action to see the franchise out until the end. As for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jason Statham, who play Hobbs and Shaw, their future with the original franchise is still up in the air.

Fans may remember that Johnson and Statham broke away from the films for their own spinoff following rumors that the duo had been having issues with other cast members, such as Diesel.

What will become of Paul Walker’s character?

Sadly, one very important cast member won’t be there to see the franchise end. Actor Paul Walker, who played the character of Brian O’Conner, tragically passed away in a car crash back in 2013. Walker made his last appearance in Fast 7. The actor’s brothers stepped in to help complete the film. The movie was dedicated to his memory. The character of Brian is currently still alive in the films, begging the question how will they end the franchise without Walker’s presence?

Of course, fans who have been watching the movies since the first film debuted back in 2001 will truly be sad to see it all end.

Fans react to the end of an era

“This is both sad and exciting news for me. I enjoy the films a great deal and really want to see how they wrap it up,” one follower tweeted.

“I’ll always end up buying it no matter what the film is. I just enjoy this series and as long as they continue, I’ll be happy,” another wrote.

“Yeah, still looking out for spin offs,” a third person commented.

Currently, Fast 9 is set to be released in April 2021.
