A Fraiser revival is being eyed at Paramount+, and fans are starting to freak out. The original show starred Kelsey Grammer, along with an amazing sequel series that included actors such as David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, Peri Gilpin, and the late John Mahoney.

According to Deadline, the revival will be more of a sequel series that follows the life of Grammer’s Fraiser Crane following the events of the original show.

Fraiser sequel series in the works

As many fans already know, Cheers was the start of Fraiser’s character. That was the first phase of the character’s life. After divorcing his wife, Lilith, he moved to Seattle to return to his roots and be near his brother and father. That was the second phase of his life. Now, the new series will document the next chapter of Fraiser.

The streaming service is reportedly working toward a 10-episode season of the sequel series, which may also star David Hyde Pierce as Fraiser’s lovable brother, Niles Crane. However, it’s unclear about who, if any, of the other cast members may return.

The original series ran for 11 seasons on NBC. The show spawned a ton of fans and set a record for the most Emmy Award wins by a scripted series with 37 trophies taken home. It also won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series five times in a row.

Fans who have been keeping up with the possibly revival news know that Kelsey Grammer has been trying to get the series off of the ground for years. He’s been working on a storyline and scripts, as well as getting all of his ducks in a row that would allow him to bring the fan favorite character back to the small screen.

In the series finale of the show, Fraiser shockingly decides to end his radio talk therapy show and accept a job in San Francisco. In addition, Fraiser’s father, Martin got married. Niles and his wife, Daphne, welcomed to their first child.

Fans torn over possibly sequel series

Meanwhile, fans have mixed feelings about the possibility of Fraiser returning for a sequel series.

“This is only acceptable if they fix the wrong they did and Frasier and Roz get together,” one fan tweeted.

“I mean this makes my day,” another comment read.

“I love Fraiser but we don’t need a revival,” one critic wrote.
A fourth person stated, “I will talk more great comedies in any form right now. I also love how Cheers can still inspire comedy in 2021 lol.”
All 11 seasons of Fraiser are currently streaming on NBC’s Peacock app.
