Fred Willard Dead: Comedy Actor Dies At Age 86

Actor Fred Willard is dead. The comedy icon passed away on Friday night, reports TMZ. However, it was actress Jamie Lee Curtis who first broke the news by posting about the death on social media before new news media had confirmed the passing.

Willard’s daughter, Hope, revealed the sad news revealing that he went peacefully.

“My father passed away very peacefully last night at the fantastic age of 86 years old.  He kept moving, working and making us happy until the very end.  We loved him so very much. We will miss him forever.”

Willard is known for his prolific television career, appearing on shows such as Sister, Sister, Roseanne, The Simpsons, Access America, and more. He most recently played the role of Phil Dunphy’s father on Modern Family.

In addition, he also starred in plenty of movies, including cult classics such as American Wedding, How High, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, “Date Move, Epic Movie, Idle Hands, and more.

Fans have already started expressing their condolences to the actor’s friends and family members.

“Fred Willard could not have been funnier. He was pure joy. And the sweetest person you could ever meet,” director Judd Apatow tweeted.

There was no man sweeter or funnier. We were so lucky to know Fred Willard and will miss his many visits,” talk show host Jimmy Kimmel wrote.

Gutted. His immense talent and kindness will never be forgotten. We love you Fred Willard. Thank you for the decades of laughter,” actress Christian Applegate stated.

RIP Fred Willard..you were incomparable,” former Happy Days star Henry Winkler said.
