Game of Thrones fans were more than excited to finally see the flashback scene where Ned fights at the Tower of Joy, only to have it cut short before finding out what was actually in the tower.
‘Game of Thrones’: What’s Inside The Tower Of Joy?
So, what is in the Tower of Joy? Well, as Hollywood News Daily has previously reported, the tower is a very important part to the Game of Thrones story, and holds Ned Stark’s dying sister, Lyanna Stark.
However, the question we don’t have answered by the books or the show is exactly what happens inside the Tower of Joy. The ever popular “R+L=J theory” reveals that Lyanna Stark was actually giving birth to Rhaegar Targaryen’s baby inside the tower.
Lyanna is rumored to have died right after giving birth to a baby boy, whom she makes her brother, Ned Stark, promise to take care of as his own child. Therefore, Jon Snow is born, and passed off as the illegitimate child of Ned Stark for his entire life.
HBODo You Believe The ‘R+L=J’ Theory?
The Game of Thrones scene was cut off before fans were able to see what Ned exactly found and did inside the Tower of Joy, but viewers are still holding out hope that they’ll get another flashback and the answer to the most important question they have. Is Jon Snow a Targaryen?
If so, Jon has a very valid claim to the Iron Throne, and could be Daenerys Targaryen’s only living family member, that is, unless you also believe that theory about Tyrion Lannister being a Targaryen.
