Garry Marshall has died. The iconic Hollywood producer/director/actor has sadly passed away at the age of 81.

According to TMZ, Garry Marshall died on Tuesday, July 19 around 5 p.m. due to complications from pneumonia. Marshall had also recently suffered a stroke and had been hospitalized.

Garry’s death is a huge loss for Hollywood, as Marshall’s credits are long and include “Happy Days,” “Mork and Mindy,” Pretty Woman,” “The Odd Couple,” and “Laverne and Shirley,” which starred his sister, actress Penny Marshall.

Garry Marshall not only worked behind the camera, but also appeared in TV and films such as “Murphy Brown,” “Beaches,” “A League Of Their Own,” “Hocus Pocus,” and many others.

Garry’s family released a statement about his long and happy life saying, “He loved telling stories, making people laugh, and playing softball, winning numerous championships.  Even at age 81, he had a record this year of 6 – 1 pitching for his team.”

Celebrities Mourn The Death Of A Legend

Since the announcement of his death, many celebrities have taken to social media to mourn Garry Marshall, including Henry Winkler, who played the iconic character of Fonzi on “Happy Days.”

“GARRY MARSHALL Rest In Peace .. Thank you for my professional life. Thank you for your loyalty , friendship and generosity,” he wrote.

“Seinfeld” star Jason Alexander had similar words about to say about Marshall. “Garry Marshall gave me one of the best experiences I ever had in my career. Thanks pal. RIP.”

It seems not a bad word can be uttered about Garry’s life or career, as he gave us all so much joy through his vision in entertainment. He will be truly missed.
