“Gilmore Girls” fans are still waiting to find out what happens after the epic moment that Rory tells her mother, Lorelai, that she’s unexpectedly pregnant. The now iconic scene played out during the 2016 “A Year In The Life” revival of the fan-favorite show. It’s been nearly 10 years since those episodes delighted viewers, and now the cast is said to be interested in returning to Stars Hollow yet again to add to the story.
According to Life and Style, “Gilmore Girls” stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel are interested in reprise their roles of beloved mother and daughter duo, Rory and Lorelai for more episodes. The revival, “A Year In The Life,” aired on Netflix in the fall of 2016, and was very well received. The series was broken into four 90-minute episodes that featured each of the seasons. The series ended with a major cliffhanger as Rory tells her mother she’s pregnant, and fans don’t get to find out who the father of the baby is.
After ten years, Graham and Bledel are allegedly ready to explore more of the story and bring their Star Hollow neighbors along with them. Of course, fans want nothing more.
“It’s no secret inside Netflix that the Gilmore Girls revival, A Year in the Life, punched above its weight back in 2016 when Netflix had a much smaller lineup of original programming and was still building its subscriber base,” says a streaming insider. “As the ten year anniversary of those episodes approaches, and after that, the twenty year anniversary of the 2007 conclusion of the original show, the door is wide open for another return — and Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel want to do it.”
Will There Be New Episodes Of Gilmore Girls?
Lauren Graham has been asked about the possibility of more episodes on several occasions. She previously told Jimmy Fallon that she was “always say yes” to the chance to play Lorelai again. However, the only person who can make that happen is the show’s creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino.
“Everything hinges on the show’s original creator Amy Sherman-Palladino making a deal to come back,” the source added. “Nobody believes you can mount a successful revival without her at the helm, and she is still very active as a writer and relatively young at just 59 years old.”
The insider went on to reveal that Amy is a “notoriously tough negotiator,” and if the show were to air in 2026 or 2027, the negotiations would have to begin right away.
“I want more episodes,” one person tweeted.
“I need them to come out with more Gilmore Girls episodes,” another agreed.
Meanwhile, Lauren Graham recently told Drew Barrymore that she has an idea to do a holiday special. It wouldn’t need to be a full reboot or revival, just an episode that checks in with everyone around the Christmas season.
Fans are hoping that another “Gilmore Girls” revival is in the cards, even if there’s a time jump. Perhaps it can start with Rory raising her child as a single mother, just like the original series. Of course, Rory had a great role model when it comes to single parenting, and Lorelai would be there every step of the way to help her daughter parent.
