Will Meredith and Alex get together on ‘Grey’s Anatomy?’
“Grey’s Anatomy” fans are torn about the fates of fan favorite characters Meredith Grey and Alex Karev. Many fans love the characters’ relationship and bond so much they are pushing for them to become a couple. The pair, who some already call “MerLex,” would certainly have viewers talking if and when they were ever to get romantic.
According to GoshTV, Alex and Meredith’s relationship is a bit complicated, especially during “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 13. The pair are the only two people left at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital from their intern class as Izzie skipped town, Cristina got the job opportunity of a lifetime, and George sadly passed away. The pair have become best friends over the years, especially since Cristina’s departure, and while some fans want more, the actors do not.
Both Ellen Pompeo and Justin Chambers have spoken out on how it would be very awkward for Meredith and Alex to get together romantically. The two are so close that they’re nearly like brother and sister. However, tough times often push friends over the edge into lovers.

“[I prefer to think of them] as siblings that care very much for each other. But that happens in life, where people who are friends become lovers. Personally, I don’t see that [happening] right now. I think it would be kind of strange,” Chambers told TV Line.
However, if Meredith and Alex aren’t going to be the next big couple on “Grey’s Anatomy,” fans are wondering who will be. With Alex and Jo no longer together and Meredith and Riggs‘ relationship up in the air, it seems that there has been a real shortage of good love stories on the show in Season 13. Jackson and April are not together and Owen and Amelia are on the rocks. The romance has been dry this season, and fans are hoping that it will be up ASAP.
