Harry Potter may be coming back for more. A TV series is reportedly in the works at streaming service HBO Max. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is in the earliest stages of development.
This means that a clear cut idea, cast, title, or storyline has likely not been decided on. Instead, sources tell the outlet that the streaming service is simply having conversations with writers, who have been brainstorming ideas about the possibility of series.
However, Warner Bros has since denied that there is any Harry Potter projects currently in the works for the studio. Meanwhile, sources claim that the studio has been engaged in meetings looking for writers and a pitch for a possible project.

The outlet goes on to reveal that expanding the Harry Potter universe is a top priority for HBO Max, as well as the franchise’s creator J.K. Rowling. The franchise is one of the biggest of all time with seven best-selling novels and eight feature films that have grossed more than $7 billion worldwide.
A TV series would likely become an instant hit. Harry Potter fans are still as obsessed with the story of Harry, Hermoine, Ron and the others as much today as when the films were being released. In addition, revisiting a minor character, or even a new generation of Hogwarts students could also prove to delight fans who have been itching for new content since Rowling released The Cursed Child.
Rowling currently controls the franchise and has a say in any and everything involving the books, movies, and characters. So, it appears that the author would heavily influence any new series that would include her elaborate fictional world.

For fans who have been living under a rock, the franchise follows Harry Potter, a young orphaned boy living with aunt and uncle. He’s amazed when he finds out that he’s a wizard, and is sent off to a special school to hone his skills. He also learns that he’s famous in the wizarding world, as he’s the only person to ever come into contact with the most diabolical villain, Voldemort, and live.
The series follows Harry’s journey to learn magic, grow into a teenager, and even fall in love. His life is connected to Voldemort’s as the two spend years waiting for their final showdown.
Along the way he meets teachers, peers, and friends of his parents who all become his family, and do everything they can to help him and protect him.
