Sunday night at 9:00 pm Eastern Standard time the long-awaited Game Of Thrones prequel titled ‘House Of The Dragon’ premiered on HBO Max. Fans of Games of Thrones have been looking forward to new content for a very long time as the original show ended on May 19th, 2019. House of the Dragon is set almost 200 years before the events of Game Of Thrones and is centered around the Targaryen house that ruled thousands of years before a rebellion overthrew Aerys II who was also known as The Mad King.
What was the issue with streaming House of The Dragon?
Unfortunately, some fans were not able to catch the premier of House Of The Dragon as it was reported that HBO Max had crashed and many believe that the issue was with Amazon products.
The crash was most likely caused by the number of viewers that were attempting to watch the fantasy drama’s first episode. The crash was said to have affected around 3,000 viewers and an HBO Max spokesperson blamed the incident on Amazon devices.
“House of the Dragon is being successfully viewed by millions of HBO Max subscribers this evening,” HBO said in a statement. “We’re aware of a small portion of users attempting to connect via Fire TV devices that are having issues and are in the process of resolving for those impacted users.” according to Hollywood Reporter.
Many of the complaints via Twitter have indeed been pointed at Amazon’s Fire app as you can see linked. It is very ironic that many are blaming Amazon’s app as Amazon makes a fantasy drama called The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, a show that many say is House Of The Dragon’s biggest rival.
With fans having so many issues just watching the first episode of this new series it raises the question, will this be a recurring issue? If so how will this affect the shows’ ratings and overall fan base? We will have to wait and see if there is a similar issue next week when episode two is released.
What did the fans think?
Overall it seems House Of The Dragon was received very well and set up many interesting plot points as it is always nice in any franchise to see what incidents led to the events in the already known storyline. It will be very interesting to see where this show will go and what kind of questions it will answer or raise regarding the Targaryens.
