HBO’s The Last Of Us has been called a breath of fresh air in the apocalypse genre. With reviews of Season 1 of HBO’s The Last of Us coming in, the hype for the January 15th release is greater than ever. Movies or shows that are of video games are notoriously bad. But not this time! According to The Atlantic.com, HBO’s The Last Of Us makes the apocalypse feel new again.
Many fans were worried when they confirmed the development of the TV series. How do you make a game that already feels like a movie a TV show? The fans also worried about how some aspects of the game would be handled. Neil Druckmann has had to make some changes for the show.
One example would be the spores. They had to change the spores to tendrils in the show to make the pandemic more realistic. The best part about these changes is that they are all original ideas that did not make it to the final cut of the game. With that being said these changes will still feel like The Last Of Us because at one point they were.
Fans Can Not Wait!
From the many trailers and images that have been shown, HBO’s The Last Of Us looks amazing. This seems to be the video game adaptation to finally break the curse. Although the show will have some cliches that all zombie genre movies and shows have, it also has so many unique aspects. Look at the cause of the infection. A real-life fungus causes the collapse of civilization. The Cordyceps fungus takes control of ants in real life by invading their brains.
No other zombie/infected movie or show has something that really makes you think it could happen in real life. It makes you think. The Last Of Us is a perfectly built universe. It has a great mixture of beauty and danger. There are just no other games or shows that can do that as perfectly as The Last Of us.
Raising The Bar!
HBO’s The Last Of Us is set to air on January 15th, and we all can not wait! Seeing Pedro Pascal as Jole Miller and Bella Ramsy as Ellie is just perfect. This show will change the way people look at video game adaptations in the film industry. Hopefully, it can inspire others to make more great shows or movies based on video games in the near future.
