HBO’s The Last Of Us Has Endless Possibilities For Spinoffs

The Last Of Us

With HBO Max making an official The Last Of Us live-action series many fans of the former game of the year award winner are very excited to see their favorite characters played by some very well-established actors. With Star Wars: The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal taking the lead role as Joel Miller in the series we should be in for a treat. With the show set for release on January 15th of 2023 which is not far off at all, fans are already thinking of possible spinoff shows that would not make good video games but would make for some great television.

Fans Would Love Spinoffs

For example, Naughty Dog probably would not make a spinoff game about the Fireflies or Joel’s friend Bill, but HBO Max could very well give us some great stories about characters and groups like that. They could even do some kind of prequel about Jole and his brother Tommy. The possibilities are endless and HBO could start pumping out these live-action shows, a lot like Star Wars is doing on Disney Plus.

Video game TV/movie adaptations do not have a great track record but it seems like The Last Of Us could set a new standard for this kind of content. With Naughty Dog being closely involved with the creation of this show it seems that it is in very good hands. The show will cover events of The Last Of Us part 1 and cover them very closely by even replicating some of the dialogue from the game.

The Show Will Expand On The First Game

The Deviations the show will have from the game were written by the original plan for the game but they were cut when the game reached its final stages of development. Fans should expect this show to expand on the game and not contradict it in any way shape or form.

It will be very interesting to see if HMO Max takes advantage of all these possible stories outside of Joel and Ellie’s adventures. A lot of fans would love a chance to see the world Of The Last Of Us from a different perspective like a show about Bill and how he lives in a whole town by himself, or a group of bandits in a big city stealing and killing to survive. There are so many stories that could be told it would be a shame for Naughty Dog and HBO Max to not make more shows in the world of The Last Of Us.
