HBO’s The Last Of Us was a huge success. Based on Naughtydog’s former Game Of The Year Award-winning zombie action game, TLOU has a very big following. Season 1 of the TV adaptation was very well received by fans of the games and now they are planning at least three seasons! The question is when will Season 2 air? A 2025 Release?
According to Deadline.com, HBO boss, Casey Bloys revealed that TLOU Season 2 will be heading into production in early 2024 as they have 2025 eyed for a release. The series was renewed for another season in January after its premiere was the second largest behind only House Of The Dragon. This was a huge game-changer for video game adaptations. Shows and movies based on video games have been notoriously terrible, but not The Last Of Us.
Following Naughtydog’s game, TLOU takes place 20 years after the fall of modern civilization. A raging fungal-based virus has taken over the world and its only goal is to spread. Forcing their host to bite, beat, and kill any living creatures. We follow Joel Miller as our main character. A rough and broken man who calls the Boston quarantine zone his home.
Joel, having lost his daughter, Sarah, has lived a rough life as a smuggler and a killer. Eventually, he will take on a young girl named Ellie Williams. Ellie is immune to the virus that destroyed the world. Joel will have to take her across the dangerous United States filled with killers, bandits, and infected in order for a group called the Fireflies to make a cure. Pedro Pascal’s portrayal of Joel couldn’t have been better. As well as Bella Ramsey as Ellie.

Some Amazing Performances!
Of course, we can not forget Nick Offerman as Bill. In an incredibly sad episode three of HBO’s The Last Of Us, Offerman gave an amazing performance. That was a special episode as it did not follow Joel and Ellie’s adventure. The Last Of Us Season 2 is probably one of the most highly anticipated shows in recent history. Season 2 will follow the events of the second game in the TLOU universe. An older Ellie takes on the challenge of facing the terrifying world for herself.
As we wait for more information on HBO’s The Last Of Us, there are rumors flying about a third installment being in development at Nughtydog Studios. Unfortunately, they are just rumors. We can hope for concrete evidence, but for now, we have none. We are all looking forward to TLOU Season 2!
