“How I Met Your Father” has been canceled. The Hulu series, which was a spin-off of the popular “How I Met Your Mother,” lasted only 2 seasons. Sadly, the series ended with a huge cliffhanger. Now fans have a ton of unanswered questions, including who the father of Sophie’s son is.
The news that “How I Met Your Father” was canceled by Hulu came down on Friday. Viewers who watched the first two seasons of the series were excitedly waiting for Season 3. However, now everything is up in the air. During the Season 2 finale, Sophie and Jesse finally got back together. The two told each other that they were in love with one another. They even promised not to break each other’s hearts before sharing a steamy kiss in the rain. The two happily returned to the bar, where they found that so much had changed.

In a heartbreaking twist, Sid and Hannah had split. The newlyweds had been having issues throughout the entire season. Hannah was working in L.A. while Sid was running the bar in NYC. When Hannah agreed to move back to New York to be with her husband, things began to look up. However, when Sid found out that Hannah fled LA after kissing her co-worker, things went from bad to worse. The two ended things on a cliffhanger.
In addition, Valentina and Charlie also admitted that they still had feelings for each other. However, they chose not to act on them because they disagreed on having children. However, in a surprising turn of events, Valentina is seen making out with Sophie’s ex-boyfriend Drew. Later, older Sophie (Kim Cattrall) tells her unseen son that Valentina’s mess of a relationship with Drew is what led her and Charlie back to each other. She even pulled out a photo of Valentina and Charlie with their son, Alex.

So, while fans know that Charlie and Valentina get back together, at least long enough to have a child together, everything else is still in the air. What happens in Sophie and Jesse’s relationship? Does Ellen find true love? Of course, the biggest question is, who is the father of Sophie’s son?
As previously reported by Hollywood News Daily, a former “How I Met Your Father” writer once shocked fans with a bombshell about the dad’s identity. The writer named Dan Levy (No, that the Schitt’s Creek star!) told a stand-up audience that Sid was likely the person who would be named the father. Of course, this was shocking as Sid is Jesse’s best friend, and married to Hannah at least for the first two seasons of the series.
“How I Met Your Father” could find a new home on another network or streaming service. However, if not, someone is going to have to spill the beans and let viewers know what would have happened to the characters.
