Cal Kestis

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: How the Addition Of A Blaster Could Change The Gameplay

A few months ago we got a cinematic trailer for the sequel Jedi: Fallen Order with the new title of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, per PC Gamer. With Fallen Order being one of the best Star Wars games to come out in a while Jedi Survivor has a lot to live up to not feel like a repeat of its predecessor.

Fallen Order felt like a Dark Souls game with a Star Wars skin over it which was an interesting take on the galaxy far far away but it was widely excepted by the players and it was a huge hit. Fallen Order had the perfect amount of dialog and action with huge worlds to explore and the community loved it because there was nothing like that before it.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has a lot to live up to and it seems the developers are already incorporating ways to change the combat for Jedi Survivor. Towards the end of the trailer, it is shown that the main character Cal Kestis has a holster on, and in that holster is a blaster pistole.

Has the Star Wars blaster pistol been confirmed?

“This has now been confirmed through an action figure of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Cal, and makes significant implications on what the game’s gameplay will be like with an added long-ranged armament. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was already surprisingly dynamic with regard to different lightsaber mod playstyles, diverse Force abilities, and creative BD-1 mechanics. It seems that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will iterate upon this with dedicated gunplay, which will fundamentally change how combat is approached.” according to Game Rant.com.

Now, this raises the question, how different will the combat be in Jedi Survivor? The addition of a long-range weapon makes sense lore-wise as most order 66 survivors are afraid to use their lightsabers as it could out them as being a Jedi.

Why would Cal have a blaster?

If we go back to the animated show Star Wars Rebels Kannon Jaris for the most part uses a blaster pistole instead of his lightsaber in fear of the Empire finding out he is a Jedi. Other than to be more true to the lore there is not a lot of information about why the blaster was put in the game or how it will affect the combat. Until there is more information the blaster will remain a mystery and only time will tell how it will affect the game overall. The Developers have a lot of work ahead of them but if it is anything like Fallen Order we should be in for a good ride.
