Hugh Hefner has died. The icon and mogul passed away at the Playboy Mansion on Wednesday surrounded by his family members. He was 91-years-old. Hef, as he was widely known, is best recognized for being the founder of Playboy Magazine, and turning it into an iconic brand.

Hugh Hefner’s death does not come as a shock to fans as the 91-year-old business man’s health has been declining over the past two years. In fact, Hef was rarely seen in public the last year of his life. Sadly, Hefner’s death comes just one year after the passing of his beloved brother, Keith, who died of cancer. Hugh leaves behind his wife, Crystal, and children, Cooper, Christie, David, and Marston.

So, what happens to Hugh Hefner’s empire now that he’s dead? Well, the Playboy Mansion has already been sold. Hef sold his iconic home back in August of 2016, but with the condition that he be allowed to live there until the time of his death. The house sold for $100 million. Meanwhile, it seems that Playboy is taken care of. Hugh Hefner’s son, Cooper, is currently the CEO of the company, taking over from his sister, Christie, who held the job for 20 years.

Hugh Hefner founded Playboy in 1953 with Marilyn Monroe being the first woman to ever appear on the cover of the magazine. Later, Hef landed talent such as Cindy Crawford, Pamela Anderson, Madonna, Sharon Stone, Carmen Electra, Drew Barrymore, Anna Nicole Smith, and Kim Kardashian.

No details on Hef’s memorial service have been revealed as of now, but fans are expecting a huge turn out to honor a beloved man, who lived his life to the fullest and seemingly had so much fun doing it.
