Is Yellowstone ending? The hit Paramount series starring Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, and Cole Hauser may be in danger of being cut short. According to Deadline, the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, and the network are considering ending the wildly popular western drama.
The report suggests the end could be near for Yellowstone following the highly criticized Season 5. The outlet reveals that Costner could be to blame for the show’s early departure. The actor is said to want to spend less time on set, causing issues around the filming schedule. Originally, Costner drew a limit, revealing that he would only be on set for 65 days of filming. Then, for Season 5, he wanted to scale back even further to 50 days of filming.

Now, the issue is reportedly Costner wanting to only spend one week in Montana filming the second half of Season 5. Currently, the actor is busy starring in and directing the western film Horizon. Costner even co-wrote the movie, which may be where his passion currently lies. Meanwhile, will Costner’s unwillingness to film cause Yellowstone to come to an end?
After news of a possible Yellowstone ending was reported, Paramount released a statement. “We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come,” a Paramount spokesperson revealed.
Of course, Yellowstone has many spin-offs, which have included 1883, starring Tim McGraw. 1929 is currently streaming, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. Another spin-off, 6666, is said to be coming as well. Now, there are reports that the Yellowstone universe is about to expand yet again, this time with Matthew McConaughey as the star.

“Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built,” the Paramount Network spokesperson added (via EW). “Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.”
The state of the Yellowstone universe seems to be complicated at the moment. However, it does seem that there could be some interesting new projects in the works. Is Yellowstone ending? We may have to wait for the answer to that question. Meanwhile, the show was supposed to go on for at least two more seasons, according to Rip Wheeler actor, Cole Hauser.
