Jack White has officially been named as the SNL musical guest this week following the show axing country music star, Morgan Wallen, from the show.

Fans may be pumped to watch White do his thing, as he’s a beloved rock musician, and has solidified his place in pop culture with songs like “Seven Nation Army” alongside is White Stripes bandmate, Meg White.

However, some viewers will be disappointed to tune in and find out that Wallen is not on stage. The up and coming country artist was given the boot from Saturday Night Live earlier this week after videos were released of him partying with, and kissing, many of his female fans last weekend.

The singer was in close quarters with multiple people in the videos, and was not wearing a mask. Some spoke out in outrage of Wallen’s blunder, claiming that he could have been exposed to Covid-19, and pass it along to the cast and crew at SNL. Following the controversy, it was revealed that Wallen was no longer able to take the stage on the comedy series this weekend.

Wallen spoke out about the incident, taking full responsibility for his actions.

“I’m in New York City in a hotel room. I was getting ready for “SNL” (on) Saturday and I got a call from the show letting me know that I will no longer be able to play. That’s because of COVID protocols. Which I understand,” he said on Instagram earlier this week.

He went on to apologize for his actions, and even revealed that he planned to take a step back from the spotlight for a bit so that he could reflect on the situation.

“I’d like to apologize to ‘SNL,’ to my fans, to my team for bringing me these opportunities and I let them down. I think I have some growing up to do,” he added.

Of course, fans had a lot to say about the Saturday Night Live switch, and took to Twitter to do so.

“The SNL music guest change made my week,” one follower stated.

“Why wasn’t Jack White the musical guest in the first place?” another wrote.

“Jack White replacing Morgan Wallen on SNL is the best news I’ve heard this week,” a third social media user declared.

“Totally pumped! Been missing me some JW – was super ready for a concert…but 2020,” a fourth comment read.

Fans can catch White’s performance during the October 10 episode of Saturday Night Live.
