Jarrett Allen Resigns With Cleveland Cavaliers On A 5 Year $100 MIllion Contract

NBA player Jarrett Allen

Very soon after free agency opened yesterday afternoon the Cleveland Cavaliers quickly offered big man Jarrett Allen a huge contract so as to not let him test the waters in free agency. Allen was a huge part in the Cavs starting lineup last season as he meshed well with their other young players like Collin Sexton and Darius Garland.

The Cavs offered the 7-foot center a 5 year $100 million contract and Allen was quick to accept for obvious reasons. He has also stated many times that he believes that Cleveland’s young core is special and going to do great things in the league down the road.

“Jarrett Allen averaged 13.2 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 51 games. He also shot 60.9 percent from the field. His best performance came in a 112-96 win over the Houston Rockets on Feb. 24. The center finished with 26 points, 18 rebounds, and four blocks while missing just one of his 11 shot attempts,” according to Bleacher Report.

With Cleveland’s addition of center Evan Mobley via the third overall pick in the NBA Draft, their frontcourt will now consist of not one but two seven-footers who are known for their defensive abilities. Even Before being drafted by Cleveland Mobley had stated he feels he plays better alongside another big man. It looks like he got his wish as the Cavs made a point to p[air him with one of the best young centers in the NBA.

Cavs lock in Jarrett Allen

As we look forward to the 21-22 NBA season, Cavs fans have a lot to be excited about. They have a potential superstar in the making in Evan Mobley, they have a rising star point guard in Darius Garland, and they have their leading scorer at the shooting guard Collin Sexton.

Alongside the duo, the team has a solid backup point guard in Ricky Rubio who just scored 38 points against team USA in the 2021 summer Olympics.
