Jennifer Aniston may have ended her run as the beloved character Rachel Green back in 2004 when the show aired its emotional series finale after 10 seasons of amazing “Friends” episodes. However, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t brainstorm about what Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Joey, and Ross would be doing today.
During an interview with Today, Aniston admitted that she’s thought about what the “Friends” gang may have been up to during quarantine, and even elaborated about what a quarantine episode might look like.
“You might have thought the cast of Friends was actually in a quarantine because all they did was hang out in the apartment, aside from the coffeehouse,” Aniston said. “But the boys would have figured out a game to play — the one where they didn’t have to drop a ball for how many days,” she joked.
More Friends episodes in the future?
Aniston also revealed that she believes she and her fictional friends would have also clapped for all the frontline workers each night, and likely would have followed all of the social distancing guidelines. That is, “except maybe not Phoebe so much, because she was a free spirit,” the actress stated.
“They would be in each other’s pods,” she added. “So as long as they saw each other, which, well, that’s easy. So we would have Ross’ apartment to go to, we would have Phoebe’s apartment to go to, Rachel and Monica’s, and Joey and Chandler’s. So you have four locations so that they wouldn’t go crazy,” Aniston declared.
A Quarantine Episode Of ‘Friends’ Would Have Been Awesome
However, Jennifer Aniston says that instead of hanging out at the coffee house, it’s likely that someone would have had to make a run to get the group’s favorite beverages from Central Perk. “Someone, I think, would probably make the coffee runs, and who would have done that? Everyone. Each and every one would’ve shared the duty,” Aniston imagined.
Fans may never get to see another new episode of “Friends,” or find out what the characters have been doing since the series finale. However, the recently released reunion special may have to be enough to give fans the closure that they need going forward.
Although we must admit that it would have been awesome to see clean-freak Monica go overboard disinfecting her apartment, while Joey probably forgot to wash his hands, Ross picked up some new annoying hobby, Rachel spent too much online shopping, Phoebe wrote some hilarious new songs, and Chandler tried to figure out how to work from home as his friends distracted him.
