Ben Affleck‘s former wife, Jennifer Garner, continues to look out for her ex during his divorce from his estranged wife, Jennifer Lopez. She knows that things between JLo and Ben are extremely tense right now while they work through the terms of their divorce.
However, with the drama regarding Lopez’s potential involvement with Sean Diddy Combs‘ arrest and legal issues, things are a mess, and Garner fears Ben may be tempted to slip into his bad habits, but not if she can help it.
Jennifer Garner has come too far with Ben Affleck during their marriage and even after their divorce to watch him potentially fall back into his dark and dangerous ways. So, to ensure Ben stays on track as best as she can, she has devised a plan to help him through the troubling times.
Garner and some of Ben’s closest friends, including Matt Damon, his mom, and his brother, have devised a plan to see him through the tough times. Sources close to Jen Garner tell In Touch that she is leading up this ‘mercy squad‘ of Ben’s loved ones to take turns checking up on the Gone Girl star to ensure he is not slipping back into his ‘bad habits.’
“Ben may come across looking all happy and cheery. And he is, for the most part, but he certainly has his down moments,” the source continues. “As much as he was relieved to escape this marriage, the divorce still took a toll on him. His reputation has taken a huge hit, and he’s grappling with a lot of guilt.”
As if that were not enough for Ben to deal with. Now, his estranged wife Jennifer Lopez’s Diddy ties are also to consider. No one knows how this will all play out. But with JLo’s past connection to the disgraced rapper, she could somehow get pulled into the drama.
Jennifer Garner & Mercy Squad Take Over Ben Affleck’s Life
Ben’s moods are up and down, so that is one reason Jennifer Garner always goes to his house to check-in. Not only are the two former spouses, but they also share three children and are close friends. So Jennifer will not let Ben spiral out of control if she can prevent it.
Of course, it is too much for one person to deal with. So when Jen can’t be there for him, his mom, brother, or Matt takes a turn. They all stay in close contact with each other and Ben. They are his ‘mercy squad’ and are there when he needs them.
“They’re very much a team and acting as a de facto support group for him. If they’re seeing a thing to worry about, they alert each other immediately. Ben knows they’re all in touch, but he doesn’t know the extent of it.”
Ben Affleck is lucky to have a friend as caring as Jennifer Garner in his life. But there will come a day when everyone must back off and let Ben take control of his life alone. Hopefully, he will be strong enough to face whatever obstacles come his way.
