Jerry Lee Lewis Suffers Stroke, Music Icon Hospitalized

Jerry Lee Lewis, Legendary rock and roll music icon, has been hospitalized in Memphis after suffering a minor stroke according to TMZ.

The 83-year-old piano legend is currently resting comfortably with his family by his side according to his rep, Zach Farnum.

Jerry Lee Lewis, also known by his nickname “The Killer,” is expected to make a full recovery and “looks forward to getting back into the studio soon to record a gospel record and on the road performing live for his fans.”

At this time, Lewis is not canceling or postponing any of his upcoming scheduled shows. Jerry Lee’s next scheduled performance is at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in April.

News of Lewis’ stroke was announced on the singer’s official Face Book page. Since the announcement of Jerry Lee’s medical condition fans have been continuously flooding the singers page with words of encouragement and well wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

Over the past few years Lewis has reduced the number of concerts on his performing schedule however, he has continued to play — making high-profile appearances at the Stagecoach country music festival in California in 2017 and at Chicago’s punk-rock concert event, Riot Fest, in 2018.

Despite Jerry Lee Lewis’ respected advanced age one thing is for sure fans are never left disappointed after attending the rock and roll icon’s energetic shows and continue to left be blown away by his energetic performances of greatest hits which include “Great Balls of Fire” “Whole Lotta Shakin” and “Breathless” to name just a select few.

Lewis is not the only celebrity this week to have caused a lot of fan concern across social media after suffering a stroke. As previously reported actor Luke Perry suffered a massive stroke on Wednesday and is currently seeking treatment in a California hospital.

At this time the updates on Perry’s current status have been limited as prayers also continue to go out this evening for the former “Beverly Hills 90210” star.

The family of Lewis requests privacy at this time. “Well wishes and prayers are greatly appreciated” added his rep.

Upon hearing the news that Jerry Lee Lewis had been hospitalized for a stroke, his many fans began to send him love, prayers, and support via social media. The music icon is beloved by so many who have listened to his classic songs, and have also passed them on to other generations along the way.
