John Travolta is one of Kirstie Alley’s most well-known co-stars. The duo appeared in three “Look Who’s Talking” movies together and had great on-screen chemistry over the years. Upon the news of Kirstie Alley’s death, the gaze shifted to Travolta, who was sure to be saddened by the news.
On Monday night after news broke that Kirstie Alley had died from cancer, Travolta took to social media to share his grief over the loss. “Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had,” he wrote via Instagram. “I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again,” he added.

Sadly this isn’t the first time that Travolta has lost a close co-star to cancer. Earlier this year, the actor was forced to say goodbye to his close friend and “Grease” co-star Olivia Newton-John, who also passed away after battling cancer. “My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever!” Travolta wrote in honor of Newton-John, who died at the age of 73 in April 2022 (via ELLE).
It seems that Cancer had taken many people close to John Travolta over the years. In 2020, the “Pulp Fiction” actor’s wife, actress Kelly Preston, died at the age of 57 after suffering from breast cancer. Since that time, Travolta has honored his late wife via social media on special occasions like her birthday. “Dearest Kelly, you brought into my life three of the most wonderful children I have ever known. Thank you,” he wrote on Instagram on Mother’s Day 2021. “We love and miss you. Happy Mother’s Day.”

It’s safe to say that Travolta has learned a thing or two about grief over the years. (He also had a young son, Jett, that died back in 2009 at the age of 16. “Grief is personal and finding your own path is what could lead to healing. It’s different than someone else’s journey,” he said. “The most important thing you can do to help people going through grief is allow them the space to live it and not complicate their journey with your own,” the actor previously revealed, per People Magazine.
In 2019, Travolta and Alley teased the fact that they deeply loved each other in the past. “I almost ran off and married John,” Alley said (via Us Weekly). “I did love him. I still love him. If I hadn’t [have] been married, I would have gone and married him,” she added. “She’s my soulmate,” Travolta added.
Kirstie Alley obviously held a special place in John Travolta’s heart, as she did with many of her fans. The actress will be severely missed by all those who loved her.
