Johnny Manziel has officially been demoted by the Cleveland Browns. The quarterback, who was recently named the starter for the team for the remainder of the season is now not just the back up QB, but third string. Why the quick change of heart by the Browns? Well, you could say that Johnny’s in trouble and Cleveland fans aren’t happy.

According to TMZ, Johnny Manziel spent the Cleveland Browns’ bye week partying in Texas. Multiple videos of the quarterback, 22, partying and drinking alcohol surfaced online. While some make think this is no big deal because the team didn’t play that week and Manziel is of age to consume alcohol, others will remember that Johnny entered rehab just last year for alcohol related issues, and even had a scrape with the law last month after getting into a fight with his girlfriend.
The Browns are putting their foot down when it comes to Johnny Manziel’s alcohol use and behavior and are obviously trying to send the young quarterback, who has been playing very well despite his team’s losing record, a very clear message — shape up or ship out!
Cleveland Browns coach Mike Pettine released an official statement about Johnny Manziel being demoted on Tuesday.

“I’m especially disappointed in his actions and behavior because he has been working very hard. The improvements from last year to this year have been tremendous but he still has to consistently demonstrate that he has gained a good understanding of what it takes to be successful at the quarterback position on this level.”
“Everyone in this organization wants what is best for Johnny just like we do for every player in our locker room. It goes well beyond the field. We are going to continue to support him in every way possible, but at this point, we’ve decided it’s best to go with Josh as the starter going forward.”
Cleveland fans are used to things like this happening with the Browns, and can’t seem to catch a break. It seems that being a Browns quarterback is not a job that one holds for long.
