King of Queens Stars Leah Remini and Kevin James Reunite

CBS first debuted the hit comedy series “King of Queens” on September 21, 1998. The show starred Kevin James and Leah Remini as newly married couple Doug and Carrie Heffernan. The show follows the lives of the working couple, Doug, a driver, and package delivery man at the fictional IPS company.

Carrie also works as a legal secretary at a law firm. The spouses find humor in navigating the everyday marital life, ups and downs. Except they have one unique problem. Carrie’s father, Arthur Spooner, who the late Jerry Stiller plays, resides with the couple, making their day-to-day lives a bit more complex and stressful.

The show ran for nine seasons, with the series finale airing on May 14, 2007. The show portrays Doug as a sports-loving, TV addict, junk food junkie. He loves his wife, Carrie, and spends time with his best friends, Deacon Palmer (Victor Williams), Spence Olchin (Patton Oswalt), and his cousin Danny Heffernan( played by Kevin James’ brother, Danny Valentine.)

Carrie also becomes best friends with Deacon’s wife, Kelly ( Merrin Dungey), and the professional dog walker, Holly Schumpert (Nicole Sullivan), who they hire to walk Carrie’s eccentric father, Arthur.

King of Queens Table Read Gives Cast & Fans Familiar Feeling

The “King of Queens” was a popular Monday-night television staple for families. The series was paritally inspired by the classic 1950’s comedy “The Honeymooners” which starred Jackie Gleason and Art Carney.

When the cast members of “King of Queens” reunited for the table reading, fans grew excited and hopeful that this reunion could spark interest in the network and cast reuniting for a reboot.

Fans have always loved the chemistry that Leah Remini and Kevin James have shared on camera. So, seeing them together again and taking on their beloved roles of Doug and Carrie Heffernan opened up many feelings for the fans and cast members.

The table read video was shared on Leah Remini’s YouTube channel and, within hours, garnered nearly 10,000 views. Fans immediately began sounding off in the comments section with love and numerous requests for a “King of Queens” reboot.

King of Queens Cast Still Got It

The former CBS comedy remains one of the most popular and rewatched series ever. Fans love the simple and light-hearted comedy of the show and the chemistry between the cast members.

The show brought many smiles and relatable laughs to families each week. So, the thought of a reboot is very appealing to fans. But many things have changed since the show last aired.

The cast of the “King of Queens” recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of the show. Sadly, one key cast member, Jerry Stiller, who played that lovable Arther Spooner, passed away at 92 on May 11, 2020.

Reboot Odds – How it Could Work

Some fans suggested they would be interested in a reboot like the “Mad About You” starring Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt, released 20 years after the original long-running sitcom ended. The 12-episode reboot aired exclusively on Spectrum’s On Demand and gave fans a look into the later years of Paul and Jamie Buchman and their daughter Mable.

Fans say they would love a similar look into Doug and Carrie’s later years. When the finale aired, fans will recall that the Heffernans had just adopted a baby girl from China. They also discovered that Carrie was pregnant.

This left a lot of material to work with for what fans agree would be a hugely desired reboot. So, can the fans convince Kevin James, Leah Remini, and the cast to join forces and give them a “King of Queens: reboot? Is this a show you would like to see get a reboot soon?
