Kirstie Alley has died. The actress was 71 years old at the time of her death. Alley’s children, True and Lilie announced that their mother had passed away after battling cancer for a short time, per People Magazine.

“We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered,” Alley’s children said in a statement. “She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead,” they continued. “As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”

In the hours following her death, it was revealed that Kirstie Alley had suffered from colon cancer, which ultimately led to her death. The outpouring of love and support for the actress was nearly immediate as fans, friends, and famous co-stars alike expressed their love for Alley and her family during the difficult time.

Kiristie Alley was known for her work in movies like “It Takes Two,” “For Richer or Poorer,” “Drop Dead Gorgeous,” and the “Look Who’s Talking” franchise. She also appeared in “Star Trek,” “Fat Actress,” “Veronica’s Closet,” and “Dancing With The Stars” over the years.

Of course, Alley’s fans and famous friends took to social media to share their heartbreak over the actress’ passing. Her “Look Who’s Talking” co-star John Travolta penned a heartwarming tribute to Alley via Instagram, sharing a stunning photo of Kirstie wearing a white dress and a snap of the pair embracing and smiling lovingly at one another.
