Kurt Cobain was found dead at the age of 27 in his Seattle home from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head. Kurt’s body was found on April 8, 1994, however, police and autopsy reports reveal that the “Teen Spirit” hitmaker had died three days before being found.

The singer began his struggle with heroin addiction in 1986 battling his demons until death. In March of 1994 just weeks before the singer’s death Kurt overdosed on champagne and Rohypnol and was hospitalized for five days. Love later stated that the incident was Cobain’s first attempt at suicide.

Days later Courtney was forced to call the Seattle police telling them that Kurt was suicidal after the singer locked himself in a room with a loaded gun. Police quickly arrived on the scene and confiscated several guns and a bottle of pills.

Kurt told police that he was not suicidal that he had locked himself in the room to get away from Courtney. Cobain’s death came several days later. His body was discovered by electrician Gary Smith, who had arrived to install a security system.

A suicide note was found, addressed to Cobain’s childhood imaginary friend
Boddah, that stated that Cobain had not “felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music, along with really writing … for too many years now”.

Many fans continue to debate the circumstances surrounding Kurt Cobain’s death. Despite his passing more than twenty years ago Kurt Cobain continues to remain one of the most iconic rock musicians in the history of alternative music.
