Kyrie Irving took to social media earlier this week as he responded to a post talking about his recent career choices and lack of success. The post showed Irving’s past six seasons without current Lakers star and Cavalier teammate LeBron James. The all-star point guard who went to three straight NBA Finals and won a championship with LeBron felt like he needed to address things directly this time.
Kyrie Takes To Social Media
Thanks to a post by NBA Central on Twitter we can see Kyrie Irving’s response to the criticism. Irving stated, “Pin this tweet and see what happens in the next few years”. This came after Irving and the Mavericks missed the 2023 NBA Playoffs. It was thought that Irving would be a Laker during free agency, but he chose to remain in Dallas as they could give him his full contract. After his disastrous time in Brooklyn, has Irving found his home?
The Brooklyn Nets would end up trading both Irving and Durant. James Harden was the first one out as he saw the teardown coming from a mile away. Kyrie’s career was in the spotlight after winning back in 2016. After overcoming a 3-1 lead to the greatest regular season team of all time, Irving and the Cavs would lose in five the next season.
After the loss, Kyrie requested a trade out of LeBrons shadow and got his wish. The Cavaliers would send Irving to Boston for Isaiah Thomas and other pieces. After an injury-plagued season, Irving’s Celtics would fall to LeBron’s Cavaliers in seven games. The Eastern Conference crown was still Cleveland’s and Irving Had to watch from the sidelines.
Does Irving Need James?
The Celtics would lose again in the playoffs to an MVP-season Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks. After telling fans he would stay a Celtic, Kyrie Irving packed it up and joined Kevin Durant on the Brooklyn Nets. We all know how that turned out.
While LeBron James made it back to the Finals without Irving and won another title in LA. Kyrie Irving has never been the player he was with LeBron. Irving seems to not be able to make up his mind when it comes to LeBron. He has stated that he regrets leaving Cleveland but now he is saying he doesn’t need James to win. Will the Dallas Mavericks be able to make some noise next season? Only time will tell. What does Kyrie Irving actually want?
