Larry King is dead. The iconic TV host died at the age of 87. According to CNN, King’s son, Chance, announced the news of his passing on Saturday morning.
The news was confirmed on King’s official Facebook page over the weekend. However, a cause of death was not given to mourning fans.
“With profound sadness, Ora Media announces the death of our co-founder, host and friend Larry King, who passed away this morning at age 87 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. For 63 years and across the platforms of radio, television and digital media, Larry’s many thousands of interviews, awards, and global acclaim stand as a testament to his unique and lasting talent as a broadcaster,” the statement read.

King reportedly entered the hospital in early January with Covid-19. However, it’s unclear if that contributed to his death. Over the years he battled a plethora of health issues, including several heart attacks.
His heart problems, including a quintuple bypass surgery in the late 1980’s, eventually led to the formation of the Larry king Cardiac Foundation. The organization helps provide financial assistance to patients without health insurance. The TV personality also revealed a lung cancer diagnosis in 2017. He underwent surgery to treat it, which was successful
Uniquely, he spent over five decades in the media. Many of those on his highly acclaimed talk show, Larry King Live. During his long career his spoke with many celebrities, athletes, politicians, and other newsmakers.
According to USA Today, Larry interviewed over 60,000 people before stepping away from the show in 2010. After leaving the series, he started a daily talk show on Hulu. He also became an avid Twitter user.
In March 2019 he revealed that he had suffered a stroke and was in a coma for weeks. King spoke openly about the struggle, even revealing that he had contemplated suicide. “I thought I was going to bite the bullet; I didn’t want to live this way,” he said.
In addition to his career and health issues, Larry also made his own headlines for his personal life. He married eight times during his lifetime. He also has five children, Chaia, Larry Jr., Cannon, Chance, and Andy.

Meanwhile, King’s loyal fans immediately began to share their condolences over his death via social media.
“RIP Larry … had the pleasure of being on his show with the guys and I never felt more at home being a fellow Brooklyn boy ! Fascinating man he will be missed!” Joey Fatone tweeted.
“Larry King was a Brooklyn boy who become a newsman who interviewed the newsmakers. Moreover, he conducted over 60,000 interviews that informed Americans in a clear and plain way. New York sends condolences to his family and many friends,” New York Governor Andrew Cuomo wrote.
Larry King clearly leaves behind a television legacy that will live on forever.
