Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington was found dead in his home on Thursday. The 41-year-old reportedly committed suicide by hanging. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Bennington was home alone at the time of his death as his family was out of town. He was found in the home by an employee.
Sadly, Chester Bennington leaves behind six children that he shared with two former wives. The Linkin Park singer had struggled with substance abuse issues for years and had revealed in the past that he had contemplated suicide because he had been abused as a child by an older male.
Chester Bennington was also very close with singer Chris Cornell, who also committed suicide just two months ago. Thursday would have been Cornell’s 53rd birthday, and his wife took to social media after the news of Chester’s death broke. “Just when I though my heart couldn’t break any more,” she wrote.
Linkin Park shot to fame with songs such as “Numb,” “In the End,” “What I’ve Done,” “Crawling,” “Breaking The Habit,” “Faint,” and even worked with Jay Z in one of the best collaborations in mixed genre music. Fans were shocked when they heard of Chester Bennington’s death, and Linkin Park’s music is likely blaring around many houses tonight as they remember the lead singer on the day of his shocking death.
